Dr. Justin Shubert has extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, which is the foundation of his approach.
Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy provides insight into the conscious and unconscious decisions people make in their lives – decisions which are often rooted in an individual’s history, and may no longer serve them in the present. One goal of psychodynamic therapy is to help someone learn to understand themselves in a deep way, allowing them more choice and freedom in their lives.
Dr. Shubert is also interested in Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy, which encourages clients to cultivate a calm and compassionate mindset as they navigate their internal and external realities.
In some cases he also draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, which help clients understand how they can actively create new patterns of thinking and feeling in order to deal with certain stressors.
