Approach

Dr. Shubert has extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, which is the foundation of his approach.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy/Psychoanalysis provides insight into the patterns we repeat in our lives – patterns which are rooted in our history, but may no longer serve us in the present. One goal of psychodynamic therapy is to help us understand ourselves in a deep way, ultimately allowing for more choice and freedom in life.

Justin is also interested in Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy, which encourages the cultivation of a calm and compassionate mindset towards both internal and external realities.

In some cases he also draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, which help to create new patterns of thinking and feeling in order to manage specific stressors.
